Why Faroe Islands?
The Faroe Islands are islands of cliffs and sea caves. An archipelago of 18 mountainous islands, this small island country’s name means, unsurprisingly, “Sheep Islands.” With a population of 52,000 spread out across the 17 inhabited islands, there are indeed more sheep than people.
They stay connected through excellent infrastructure which includes a comprehensive road network as well as tunnels and ferries. Endless cliffs make up much of the landscape of these islands, some of which are covered by waterfalls that plunge directly into the sea. Travel and exploration of the islands is done by land and sea and at no point is anyone further than 5km (3 miles) from the ocean. In the whole country, there are a total of five traffic lights.
